Barb has been an animal lover her entire life. She was raised with horses, dogs, cats and yes...cows and chickens too! Her studies over the years included natural horsemanship, animal communication and behavior, natural hoofcare and horse agility. For several years, she owned and raised gaited horses, taught natural horsemanship, bitless riding, horse agility and barefoot hoof care to individuals and groups in Canada and parts of the USA.
Freedom Horsemanship, her teaching program, brings horses and human closer together. Barb uses animal intuitive communication and gentle ways to create a relaxed, safe and pleasant experience for horse and human. She is currently focusing on her teachings of peaceful communication with horses, liberty skills and the fun activity of horse agility. She holds a teaching certification with the UK based Horse Agility Club.
Barb offers Freedom Horsemanship out of Hooves N’ Hounds Stables, in St. Malo, where she boards her Missouri Foxtrotter, Zoie. She also travels to other locations to teach clinics.
Her learning never stops. She is currently enrolled in Level 3 of The Trust Technique. This is a 1 year certification course where, upon graduation, she will be a qualified Trust Technique Consultant and Presenter. This will take her to even a deeper level of mindfulness with animals, and further advance her teaching skills in human and animal communication and learning.
She and her husband Dave live in St. Malo, Manitoba, Canada and have two dogs, Mya and Tucker, and cats Cassy and Cowboy. Their pony Buddy lives at Lil’ Steps Animal Therapy Farm and is part of their therapy program. She enjoys riding her horse and bike, hiking, teaching, meeting new people and animals. Barb and Dave also enjoy singing, songwriting and guitar playing together.
